Zhejiang Engineering Design Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as ZEDC in English) was established in 1958, originally known as the Design Department of Quzhou Chemical Plant. In November 1984, it was reorganized into the Planning and Design Institute of Quzhou Chemical Industry Company; in November 1993, it was renamed the Planning and Design Institute of Juhua Group Corporation. In 1999, following a corporate restructuring, it was registered as Zhejiang Engineering Design Co., Ltd. On May 18, 2003, the company underwent diversification reform and relocated from Quzhou to Hangzhou, where it remains to this day. Currently, the company is a diversified‑shareholder limited liability company jointly invested by Juhua Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Sanlian Hongpu New Synthetic Fiber Technology Service Co., Ltd. (stock code: 300384), Zhejiang Juhua Co., Ltd. (stock code: 600160), Hangzhou Jinlian Automation Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., and other investors, with a registered capital of RMB 30 million.

  The company is a high-tech enterprise that integrates planning, consulting, design, project management, and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services across the chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as in the construction industry. It provides technical and managerial support throughout the entire project lifecycle—covering consulting, design, construction, and commissioning—and also undertakes economic development planning studies, pre‑project advisory services, energy‑efficiency assessments, safety evaluations, and related analyses.

  The company currently holds a Class-A engineering design qualification certificate for the chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as for the construction industry (building engineering), issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban–Rural Development of China; a Class-B specialized engineering design qualification certificate for the power industry (thermal power generation and substation engineering) and for environmental engineering (water pollution control projects), issued by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Housing and Urban–Rural Development; and design licenses for pressure vessels of Classes A1, A2, and A3, as well as for pressure pipelines of Categories GA, GB, GC, and GD, issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation. In addition, the company possesses a Class-A credit rating certificate for consulting firms in the petrochemical, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. The company is equipped with internationally advanced software for process engineering, manufacturing, and supply-chain optimization, including the Aspen One suite, the PKPM series of design software, the pipeline stress analysis software CaeserII, and the 3D plant design software SmartPlant 3D, along with CADWorx, among others. It obtained ISO 9000 quality management system certification in 2001 and QHSE system certification in 2017.

  The company currently employs over 200 staff members, including five professor‑level senior engineers, more than 90 senior engineers, and over 100 engineers. It also boasts more than 100 nationally registered professional engineers specializing in chemical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, electrical engineering, power engineering, HVAC, and water supply and drainage. In 2018, the company jointly established Hangzhou Zhejiang Kaimi Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., a Sino‑foreign joint venture, with Sweden’s Kemitek Engineering, primarily to expand its design capabilities in the fluidized‑bed hydrogen peroxide production sector.

Notably, the company’s 100,000‑ton‑per‑year caprolactam project for Shandong Dongju Chemical Co., Ltd. was awarded the First Prize for Outstanding Engineering Design by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Survey and Design Association; the 200,000‑ton‑per‑year caprolactam project of Hubei Sanning Chemical Co., Ltd., along with its associated 150,000‑ton‑per‑year hydrogen peroxide unit, and the 10,000‑ton‑per‑year PVDF project (Phase I) of Zhejiang Juhua Co., Ltd. were each honored with the First Prize for Outstanding Engineering Survey and Design in the Qianjiang Cup competition organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Construction Engineering Association. In addition, the company has been granted an AA corporate credit rating by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Survey and Design Association and recognized as an诚信 (integrity) enterprise by the Zhejiang Provincial Survey and Design Industry Association, making it one of the most powerful design, consulting, and EPC firms in the chemical sector in Zhejiang Province.
