Despite the unexpected arrival of a severe winter cold wave, it could not dampen the ZEDC employees’ enthusiasm for welcoming the new year. On the eve of the 2016 Spring Festival, in order to enrich employees’ lives and strengthen their physical health, the company’s trade union organized the “Process Systems Cup” — the first-ever ZEDC badminton tournament — along with a “New Year Welcome Fair” event.
The morning badminton tournament was a team event. The captains of the “Edamame Team” and the “Pepper Team” drew lots to select their players, forming two squads. Each team fielded four men’s doubles pairs and six mixed doubles pairs, with points awarded to the winning side contributing to the team’s overall score. The matches were both intense and entertaining. Even matchups between evenly matched opponents drew enthusiastic applause, while lopsided contests elicited bursts of laughter from the crowd. After a half‑day of fierce competition, the “Edamame Team” ultimately clinched first place with an overall score of 6–4.
The afternoon “Welcoming the Year of the Monkey: New‑Year Funfair” event combined fun and entertainment, featuring a variety of activities such as “Working Together,” “Blindfolded Gong‑Striking,” “Step by Step,” “Chopsticks Throw into a Beer Bottle,” and “How Many Hens Do You Want?” The atmosphere was lively throughout, filled with laughter, effectively relieving employees’ work‑related stress, strengthening camaraderie and fostering a greater sense of belonging to the company, enhancing team cohesion, and showcasing ZEDC employees’ love of life and positive, upbeat spirit.
ZEDC will continue to innovate its employee cultural and sports programs, encouraging staff to participate actively, proactively, and consistently in a variety of activities. This enables employees to unwind and recharge after demanding workdays, fostering a positive corporate culture.
