“Wow, my donation has been matched by the Tencent Foundation at a 2.2‑to‑1 ratio!” “How do I make a ‘charitable donation’ on WeChat?” “If my WeChat account isn’t linked to a bank card, how can I donate?”… As soon as they arrived at work this afternoon, many employees eagerly inquired about the steps for donating via WeChat, actively participating in the company’s charitable initiatives with concrete actions.

This is a fundraising campaign launched by the Zhejiang Academy of Engineering, calling on all employees to support the Red Cross’s “Scholarship and Medical Assistance for Families of Organ Donors in Need.” In just half a day, 170 participants donated a total of 7,047 yuan, which was matched by the Tencent Foundation with an additional 4,772.17 yuan. All proceeds will be channeled through the Zhejiang Provincial Red Cross to provide financial assistance to families of organ donors facing hardship, helping them alleviate the burden of tuition and medical expenses for their children.

According to reports, roughly 40 percent of donors leave behind minor children, who face challenges in areas such as upbringing, education, and medical care. Some are left to be raised by elderly grandparents, struggling to make ends meet. While the donors have passed away, continuing to bring warmth to strangers, their families are plunged into hardship, and their children urgently need greater compassion and support from society.

General Secretary Xi Jinping stated: “The Red Cross embodies a spirit and serves as a banner, transcending national borders, ethnicities, and faiths to lead the global humanitarian movement.” Change in this world does not come from one person doing much; it arises when the majority each do a little. The Zhejiang Academy of Engineering champions acts of kindness by actively participating in public‑welfare fundraising, putting the principles of “Studying the Party Constitution and the Party’s Guidelines, and Doing Practical Things” into practice, spreading compassion to more people, and striving to fulfill its corporate social responsibility. Moving forward, the Zhejiang Academy of Engineering will remain committed to public‑service initiatives, extending our care to even more communities in need.

Behind every organ donor is a family torn apart.

The children can no longer wait for their father to return; all that remains is the frail mother and her helpless children.
