From June 27 to July 2, 2008, the six-day review of the process package for Qinghai Yanhu Haihong Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 100 kt/a ADC blowing agent integrated project was successfully concluded. Led by Deputy General Manager Hong Xiaoming, a team of nine from Zhejiang Engineering Design Co., Ltd. traveled over 3,000 kilometers, overcoming numerous challenges—including long-distance travel and high-altitude hypoxia—departing from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, and making stops in Xi’an and Xining before arriving as scheduled at the Golmud Basin in Qinghai, at an elevation of more than 2,700 meters.
The 100 kt/a ADC blowing agent integrated project at Qinghai Salt Lake is a joint venture between Qinghai Salt Lake Group and Zhejiang Haihong Holding Group, aiming to build the world’s largest‑scale facility for producing ADC blowing agents and hexamethylenetetramine. With a total investment of nearly RMB 1 billion, the project has set two world records. It employs a process route that uses caustic soda, chlorine, urea, and other key raw materials to manufacture ADC blowing agents. Using Aspen Plus process simulation software, the entire ADC production process was modeled and subjected to simulation analysis, while the process parameters of critical equipment and the integrated utilization of heat and water were optimized. On this basis, the process package design was completed, laying a solid foundation for subsequent preliminary design and detailed engineering drawings. This also marks the first practical application of results from the ZEDC Chemical Engineering Design Innovation Base at Zhejiang University.
The process package review spanned two days, proceeding in a rigorous yet orderly manner. General Manager Shen Fangming of Qinghai Yanhu Haihong Chemical Co., Ltd., along with relevant personnel, and our company conducted detailed discussions on several key areas, including sodium hypochlorite production, urea transportation, hydrazine hydrate preparation and the tank farm, hydrazine hydrate concentration, dicyandiamide production, AC oxidation, and ammonia recovery, while also finalizing the preliminary design interfaces. The client expressed great satisfaction with our design and process flow.
The successful approval of the salt‑lake Haiming process package not only affirms our company’s capability to develop new technologies, but also lays a solid foundation for expanding into the Qinghai Salt Lake market, while cooperation with Zhejiang Haiming Holding Group will be further strengthened.
