Recently, the installation phase of the “Zhejiang Shangu Energy Development Co., Ltd. Synthetic Leather DMF-Containing Wastewater Centralized Recovery and Treatment Project” (Phase I), designed by our company, has been essentially completed.
This project is located in the Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone in Zhejiang Province. The Lishui Development Zone is home to 67 synthetic leather enterprises, making it the second-largest synthetic leather industrial base in China. During the production of synthetic leather, DMF is used as a solvent to dissolve polyurethane and is fed into coating machines, resulting in wastewater containing approximately 20% DMF. After treatment, this wastewater is discharged. The effluent exhibits a fishy, foul odor and has excessively high concentrations of ammonia nitrogen and dimethylamine.
To address the issues of small, fragmented, and poorly maintained environmental protection facilities at synthetic leather manufacturers—characterized by intermittent operation, significant regulatory challenges, and persistent illegal discharge of high-concentration wastewater—the Lishui Economic Development Zone has decided to attract enterprises to centrally collect and treat DMF‑containing wastewater.
The “Zhejiang Shangu Energy Development Co., Ltd. Synthetic Leather DMF-Containing Wastewater Centralized Recovery and Treatment Project” employs advanced heat-pump distillation separation technology. Upon completion, the project will annually treat 2 million tons of synthetic leather wastewater containing 20% DMF, ensuring that the treated effluent meets discharge standards and achieving a high DMF recovery rate.
This project provides centralized treatment of DMF‑containing wastewater for industrial development zones, paving the way forward. It represents our company’s active participation in Zhejiang Province’s “Five‑Water Co‑Governance” initiative and our contribution to building a beautiful Zhejiang.
