In July, the blazing sun blazed fiercely, and waves of heat rolled across the landscape—much like the Electric Instrumentation Department’s enthusiasm and high expectations for its new employees. In this season brimming with vitality and promise, the department welcomed a cohort of energetic newcomers, injecting fresh talent and renewed vigor into both the team and the company. On the afternoon of July 8, under the theme “A Future Begins Here—Together We Move Forward,” the Electric Instrumentation Department hosted a 2024 orientation symposium in the company’s first-floor training room, attended by all members of the department for an open exchange.

To help new employees joining the Electrical and Instrumentation Department take their first steps in their careers, quickly assume their roles, and integrate into the team, Liu Rilin, a model worker at the Juhua Group level and head of the department, delivered the inaugural session of the department’s onboarding training, titled “Where the Heart Leads, Action Will Follow.” Drawing on his own journey of growth, he emphasized the importance of cultivating “three‑heartedness”—a heart that is mindful, dedicated, and selfless—while highlighting initiative, a conscientious attitude, and an unselfish spirit. His presentation covered ten key areas: developing strong study habits; setting goals and managing time; honing communication skills; nurturing curiosity; mastering the art of listening; taking effective notes; upholding integrity and building a positive reputation; fostering teamwork; showing respect for others; and adapting to new environments. Each skill was meticulously explained by Director Liu, equipping the new hires with the tools they need to grow holistically and lay a solid foundation for their future careers. Concluding with the hopeful message, “The future of the Electrical and Instrumentation Department rests in your hands,” and urging them to “seize every moment and make the most of their youth,” he encouraged the newcomers to embrace each challenge and opportunity ahead with passion and unwavering conviction.

At the symposium, the department’s management team, mentor instructors, new employees hired within the past three years, and long‑time staff members each shared their personal growth journeys, offering insights and lessons from diverse perspectives. Through a spirit of care and support, they guided the new hires to accelerate their professional development and integrate into the Electrical and Instrumentation Department family, thereby highlighting the department’s cultural heritage and its open, inclusive atmosphere.

“I joined the company in early July 2009, and my situation back then was much like yours today. During my first year or two, my main focus was learning—mastering the fundamental knowledge, standards, and codes of our field, gradually studying and replicating others’ design drawings, and then, through a combination of theory and practice, taking on simple unit‑level projects such as circulating water systems and chilled‑water plants.” As he looked at one fresh, eager face after another, Hong Haibo, a provincial model worker at Juhua Group and deputy director of the Electrical and Instrumentation Department, found his thoughts drifting back to his own experience when he first started 15 years ago. “The automation discipline covers a broad range of topics and demands high expertise; it is closely tied to the safety of plant operations and involves countless minute details. Meanwhile, the electrical engineering field has numerous standards, strict mandatory requirements, and an overwhelming amount of material to master. Design experience and competence are built up over time, so you’ll need to be patient and willing to put in the hard work.”

“As the Electrical and Instrumentation Department is experiencing a historic surge in new hires, the department encourages ambitious, idealistic newcomers to actively align themselves with the Party organization and apply for Party membership, thereby closely linking their personal growth with the company’s development,” said Yan Jianbiao, secretary of the Second Party Branch, as he offered heartfelt words of encouragement to the new employees. As both deputy director of the department and a mentor to the new recruits, he deeply understands that technology and responsibility go hand in hand: “For the electrical engineering field, given the generational gap in the workforce, newly arrived staff must seize every opportunity and boldly step forward;” In view of “Given the characteristics of engineering design and the wide variety of codes and standard drawings, it is essential to integrate on-site practice with design. In particular, leveraging the Group’s Western Base’s digital and intelligent design capabilities and opportunities to study at the Group’s headquarters will help you quickly adapt and elevate your design expertise.”

The Electrical Instrumentation Department’s new‑employee onboarding initiatives and growth guide provide a robust platform for professional development. By seamlessly integrating theory with hands‑on experience, offering scientifically grounded career guidance, and fostering an immersive team culture, we empower every new hire to thrive and advance rapidly. They will contribute to the development of the Electrical and Instrumentation Department—and indeed the entire company—with unwavering enthusiasm, professional expertise, and a humble attitude.

“The teachers shared their insights from their respective work experiences, which resonated deeply with me. What struck me most was the importance of organizing both your tasks and your materials right from the start—otherwise, it becomes increasingly difficult to get things in order as you go along. While working diligently, it’s equally crucial to prioritize your own learning, shifting from a mindset of ‘being told to learn’ to ‘wanting to learn’—making it an intrinsic source of motivation.” Having worked in the Electrical and Instrumentation Department for just over a month, Yi Zihuan has come to realize that the key to career success lies in continuous learning and self‑driven initiative.

“‘Where the heart leads, the path will surely follow.’ For us new employees, this underscores the importance of setting goals—put in more passionate terms, of having dreams—while also taking concrete actions: to ‘reach for the stars while keeping our feet firmly on the ground.’” Liu Shiyu, a graduate of Beijing Institute of Technology, found herself continually challenged by the perspectives of her senior colleagues. “I deeply realized that at this stage, I need to keep learning and growing; at the same time, I’ve come to understand the need to strike a balance between life and work. Most importantly, I’ve come to appreciate that I have a group of exceptionally talented and kind mentors—who are also my peers. With everyone’s guidance, support, and companionship, I’m confident that I can develop into an even better version of myself.”
